BAR – Global Shipping Conditions Update – 1st December 2024

The BAR Overseas Group, consisting of over 50 international relocation specialists, provides an update on recent developments in global shipping. A recent shipment was delayed by the Environment Agency, highlighting the importance of understanding regulations surrounding personal effects. Additionally, shipping line alliances are shifting in 2025, which may cause disruptions like longer transit times, route changes, and delays due to capacity issues.

The state of the market for North American and Eastbound trades shows challenges, such as increased freight costs and potential delays. In other regions, including Southbound and Latin America trades, port congestion and delays remain a concern.

Customers should be aware of new regulations like the ISC2, impacting shipments to the EU, and potential issues with hazardous items like lithium-ion batteries, which may cause significant delays and fines if misdeclared. It is recommended to plan moving dates in advance to manage potential disruptions.

For any questions or updates, customers are encouraged to contact their BAR mover for further assistance.
