What can I take with me?

You are entitled as a new settler (immigrant) to import your household goods and personal effects duty free; this also applies to returning residents who have been outside of the country over one year. A detailed explanation of import regulations can be found with the enclosed FIDI regulations.

Effective March 1st 2001 all containers container Household Goods and Personal Effects from the United Kingdom will be subject to a through inspection due to Foot and Mouth Regulations, the inspectors will be opening every consignment looking for meat/mean products, or footwear, garden tools, farm or agricultural equipment, any item that could retain dirt.
